These days every one of us hear a lot about Kyoto Protocol. So, What exactly is Kyoto Protocol?
Kyoto Protocol is a agreement which binds developed and developing nations to limit greenhouse gas emissions. Developing nations see it as a impediment in their progress. They have an argument that developed nations have already damaged environment and onus is on them to control the greenhouse gas emissions.
But is it only responsibility of developed nations to control greenhouse gas emissions? For instance , a country like India which has coastal area of around 7,500 Kms can let go the increase in temperature? IPCC has estimated that with this emission rate , there will be 2 degree rise in temperature of earth. That means there will be rise in sea levels which in turn will cause exodus of population staying in coastal region to other parts of the country.
With already populated metros like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata , Bangalore , will we be able to fulfill basic necesseties of this huge population? Certainly not.
Now the time has come developed and developing nations should cooperate for this greater cause leaving behind all contentions. U.S. President Barack Obama has already declared stimulus package for producing renewable energy. So, this will definitely create 2 Million green jobs in developing countries. Hence, boosting there economy.
